Group,
I became an Amateur Radio Operator, (HAM), a bit close to 26 years ago.
I was still in uniform at the time.
My time in the service of "Uncle Sam" was spent primarily in what they
NOW call Special Operations.
Some of the time I would be the one chosen to carry and use the 30
D-cell powered SSB HF rig with the "measuring" tape dipole. It was
usually to send a status report, or perhaps a change in objectives due
to the "other" side's actions/activities.
It was ALWAYS nice to have the poor guy on the receiving end talk with
you when everything went down the tubes, AND you needed to be picked up
a Point Y for extraction N-O-W!
All this being said, this is why I "decided" to go after and obtain and
operate what I "believe" to have been used to "listen" for us NUTS doing
OUR job.
That's why I have obtained the R-390A and a Northern Variant of the
SP-600, AND take great care in getting them up to par and enjoy their use.
I NEVER dreamed that finding, and obtaining a BFO Counter would stir up
a Hornet's Nest! For those that got good info - GREAT!
My intent was simply to try and bring one of these fine old girls back
to what it used to be. I do NOT wasn't ANY attention OR notoriety! I'm
just an old warrior tying my past to today.
However, I'll still put out a message:
IF SOMEONE HAS ONE OF THE READOUT COVERS - PLEASE EMAIL ME DIRECT!
Thanks!
