Here is a good reason to warm up your R-390s/R-390As/R-389s this weekend:
Several organizations around the world will be marking centenary of the
Berlin
International Wireless Telegraphy Convention, at which 500kc (600m) was born
as
the international distress and calling frequency.

As part of this event the Maritime Radio Historical Society had decided to
activate KPH on 500kc and its working frequency, 426kc. KPH began operation
in
1905, a year before Berlin Convention.

Transmissions from KPH will begin at 0001 GMT Saturday, 4 November (1601PST
Friday, 3 November). KPH will send special messages and marine information
using
500kc as frequently as possible, keeping in mind that other stations share
this
frequency. Longer bulletins will be sent on 426kc after an announcement on
500kc.
500kc will be monitored at all times for calls from ships and the Silent
Period
will of course be scrupulously observed.

Operators will listen for the signals of stations operating in the US under
experimental license WD2XSH in the 505kc - 510kc band even though two-way
contact
between these stations and KPH will not be possible.
