Tim,

That particular value is used in the Gibson Les Paul electric guitar of the
50's and 60's. My wild assed guess is that the original guitars are now
worth 8 to 20 thousand dollars each. So guitar owners who have one may be
willing to pay the guitar technician $200+ for a replacement
capacitor. What a price to pay for authenticity!

Here are some samples from the E-place

1958 58 59 Gibson Les Paul Standard Uber Flame top Real
         Item number: 7415462296
Current bit $8,000, 6 days to go.
"... this guitar comes with full providence. ..." (I think he means
provenance! - Or maybe just playing this guitar gets you more or less
directly to heaven. who knows!)

Vintage 1959 Gibson Les Paul Custom 3 PAF Black Beauty
1959 GIBSON LES PAUL CUSTOM / NOT A REISSUE! 3 PAF's!
Item number: 7414569041
Current bit $16,600 with two days to go.
(This auction includes a photo of the controls compartment showing not
bumblebee caps but rectangular, presumably paper, caps. There is a question
posted about this.)

Gibson still makes these guitars, list price $2000, "street price" more
like $1400.

I would expect to find no DC at all in the circuit, so any likely leakage
in the new old stock cap is of not much consequence if any.

I sure wish I had a bunch of those caps to offer at the bargain price of a
mere $75 each, WITH discount for quantity!

Crafty that fellow PT Barnum: "A sucker is born..."
At one of his circuses visitors were staying too long to see the big cats
on display and holding up crowd movement. So in addition to the Tigress and
Lioness signs, Barnum put up another one: "This way to the Egress".
