[R-390] SSB R-390A?

I took a look at Chuck Rippel's photos, which are the most authentic view  of 
the radio I can think of.  The advertised radio has the extra module in  the 
right place (in front of the audio module), and is connected to the IF  module 
in the correct manner.  However, Chuck's photo shows a module with  two metal 
cased crystals, similar to the other crystals in the radio.  The  eBay radio 
has surplus FT243 crystals, which in my mind would make it a homebrew  setup.  
But these are rare enough that I could be wrong.
