[R-390] Tuning the IF question

Hi all,
I'm trying to tune up my first R-390A. I have the manuals.
When i came to the IF tuning, the manual says that each trsnsformer has two
lugs; the primary in the bottom, the secondary in the top. The problem is,
how can i reach the bottom one? There is no hole in the IF module chassis;
to reach the bottom lug, i have to remove the top one; and so the
transformer goes so much out of tune that no reading is possible on the
VTVM. Where am I wrong?
