Bob,
9 kcs is not abnormal for a radio that has not be aligned in a long time.
This can be adjusted out, either by plan a) the endpoint adjustment screw, or
plan 2) removing one turn from the endpoint adjusting coil.
This should not prevent you from buying the radio.
