But that ad also shows a vanilla piece of Tripp-Lite gear. 

Well, I guess that when your external power is down, you are willing 
to accept power from something that doesn't have hand-sanitized e-, 
gold-plated <foo>, o liquid Helium-conditioned <bar>.
