[R-390] warbling BFO problem solved

2. Now for the warbling of the beat note. There is a small strap that is 
mounted at the base of the VFO shaft and rides on this shaft. The end has a 
vee notch where it rides on the shaft. Carefully clean this area so as to 
restore it's grounding ability. While you are there apply just a drop of oil 
where the VFO shaft enters the front of the housing.

I tried this and it worked like a charm, the BFO note is now clear, louder 
and best of all smooth into and out of zero beat, no more jumping around. It 
did sound like a bad connection which is why I tried this first. I'm now 
waiting for a whole set of Bristol wrenches so I can loosen the little clamp 
behind the face of the radio to center the BFO and I'll be all set,
thank you all for your help.
