I have for sale an excellent condition R-391. This receiver is fully
operational, including the motorized channel selection on the R-391.
Included with the radio is an external non-original 115vac to 28vdc
power supply set up to power the R-391 channel selection motors. This
radio is fully tubed including rectifiers and ballast, no solid state
"fixes" here. Also included is a spare pair of NOS 6082 tubes. An ac/dc
power cord with original connector is included. Also included is a
printed copy of the R-391 manual and a CD-ROM containing the R-391
manual and various other military manuals. Also included is a short
length of coax with a twin-connection male plug for the balanced antenna
  connector.

Here is the catch. We often see gripes about equipment listed on the
"auction place" rather than giving enthusiasts a chance at it for a
fixed price. So what am doing is listing this R-391 for a four day
period, only on this R-390 list, so R-390 list subscribers will have
first chance to purchase it. The price during this four day period is
$2,500 plus packing and shipping from NY zip 13732. Based on past
packing and shipping costs of a previous R-390A I sold, I expect the
cost will be in the $100 - $150 range to the lower 48 states. There will
be two packages, one with the radio and one with the 28VDC supply (heavy
just by itself), power cords, antenna connector/cord, spare pair of 6082
tubes, manuals and CD-rom.

If the receiver doesn't sell via the R-390 list by the indicated date, I
feel I will have given the R-390 community a fair chance at it and I
will move on to the "auction" venue. This offer will expire on Tuesday
morning 09/05/2006 at 0400UTC. At that time any interested party will
have to take their chances on the "auction" place. Once listed, the
reserve price will be $2500. The "buy it now" price will, of course, be
higher.

I figure by doing it this way, I give the real enthusiasts a chance at
it for a known fixed price, and if nobody here is interested, I will
then move on to the auction venue.

If you want the receiver at the fixed price of $2,500 without waiting
for it to go to auction, you'll need to commit to the purchase before
the cutoff listed above. Once the cutoff date/time is reached, the offer
is withdrawn and I will feel no obligation to sell it at the fixed price.

This radio is in 100% working condition and is very clean both inside
and out, with original meters. It is fully aligned and the auto-tune
mechanism is correctly synchronized. The "green gear" is included as is
the bristol wrench mounted inside the radio. The only things missing,
typically, are the tube pullers and screwdriver/spline wrench normally
mounted on the back. The mounts are there, just the tools are missing.
All you'll need to do is ground the radio, add an antenna, attach the
power cord to the radio and the two pairs of wires to an AC source and
the provided 28vdc supply and you are ready to go. The radio is very
clean, with some light dust and minor blemishes on the parts of the
chassis normally exposed and covered only by the vented top cover. The
green painted screws that attach the individual modules are unscratched
and that leads me to think that this may have never been thru a "depot"
rebuild, i.e. I expect this may be a radio that has never had modules
swapped out, unless the depot took the trouble to re-paint each screw
head after R&R'ing a module.

This radio has had no modifications and has had no restoration. To my
knowledge it is just as it was when taken out of military service.

The following pictures should give an accurate depiction of the receiver
as it is right now.

Also included at the end of the picture list is an A/V file of the radio
in operation.

Price until Tuesday 09/05/06 at 0040UTC is $2,500 plus shipping from NY
zip 13732. After that I withdraw the fixed price offer and will relist
it at the "auction place".

If your collection needs a good clean, fully operational "plug and play"
R-391 that needs no work on your part other than to hook it up and
listen, this is it.
