Hi R-390 list,
Apologies for a partly off-topic post, but item #1 can
connect directly with operating R-390As on GFCI outlets.
If you are not interested in isolation transformers, a
Heathkit HL2200 2KW linear, an old Johnson Ranger II,
or 50 ohm transmitter RF loads, delete now.
A local outfit has weekly sealed bid auctions on surplus
electronics and other equipment. Generally it's mostly computers,
printers, etc; but this week contains some interesting items
which I thought might interest list members.
#1 A lot of transformers which would make lovely isolation
transformers. Marked specs are:
Pri: 90-126 / 180-264VAC, 47-63Hz, 680VA
Sec #1: 90-126V 300VA
Sec #2: 90-126V 300VA
Sec #3: 90-126V 80VA
I'm assuming primary winding #2 is tapped.
There are about 30 of these in the lot. If there is sufficient
interest from the list by Sunday evening I'll make a bid
on the lot.
Pricing: I'll offer them at $10 each + shipping to see how much
interest there is. If there is lots of interest I'll bid higher
(to be sure I/we get them) and lower the per unit price.
Multiple units are OK, as long as everyone who wants one can
get at least one.
If there is minimal interest I won't bid on the transformers.
If there is interest, there is _no_ guarantee I'll have
high bid and actually be able to follow through on this.
My bidding price will depend on demand.
Shipping will be an issue with these. As a guess they are
8 lbs each. UPS wants $12.50 to ship 8 lbs from my qth
in San Jose CA to "back east". 16 lbs (qty 2) is about $20.
I will bring these to a commercial pack & ship outfit
to send them out. Additional cost is unknown. [Can anyone
make a guess?]
If you tell me want one of these, you are committing to roughly
$22.50 (UPS zone 8) plus any additional for packing etc.
Please don't ask me to buy for you if you're not serious.
#2 is a Johnson Ranger II transmitter.
It covers 6, 10, 15, 20, 40, 80, 160 meters. Looks used.
Case has scratches. Power cord needs replacement. Otherwise it
looks complete and in fair-good condition. Meter unbroken.
Minimum auction sealed bid allowed is $62.50.
If you want this, contact me off-list and I'll provide details.
#3 is a Heath HL2200 2KW linear amp. It covers 15, 20, 40, & 80
meters. The front panel power and mode switches are broken. One
tuning cap has a slightly bent shaft. Otherwise it looks in
G-VG condx. The power tubes look like 4-400As from the little
I know about such things.
Same terms as #2 above apply.
#4 is a group of four Termaline 50 ohm loads. All have type N
connectors, so are presumably good through at least VHF
and probably past UHF.
A: Model 8660, 1.5KW
B: Model 8401, 600W
C: Qty 2, Model 8141, 250W
If there is interest I'll bid and ship individually as per
items 1 & 2 above. If you want the entire lot, please
contact me for details.
Sending me mail: the address I'm using to send this to the R-390
list has been compromised by someone's machine on the list.
All mail to the sending address gets trashed. To reach me,
send mail to user3 at uwave dot com (and please do not add
that to your address book.)
Please contact me off-list to reduce bandwidth.
Caveats:
1: Apologies if I've annoyed anyone with off-topic material.
If I hear serious complaints I'll never again pass info on
what look like interesting deals to the list.
2: I will be making _nothing_ on this, and probably wind up
losing money with gas etc. I'm making this information
available as a service to list members, not for profit.
3: I'd rather not get involved with international shipping
and currency exchanges.
4: Bids must be in by Sunday night. Apologies for the short
notice, but I just saw this stuff late Friday afternoon.
Gary
