OK Joe .. because you made that mistake, the whole class, er, list has to be
punished. (Remember those days?)

Punishment is this -- you gave me an opening to skootch in an OT question
about tubes -- involving another "6C" deal.

I have a National RAO-2 that turned up with a slightly broken 6C8G -- where
the "G" is probably for "glass", but could be "George", who knows. Anyhow,
the thing is broken at the cap - small hole let that elusive vacuum escape.

I see on that tube substitution web site that the 6F8G is a possible sub.
Of course, this might be like those guys who joke around when dealing poker
and will say "possible straight-flush" upon dealing out a single face card.
There is a disclaimer that it won't work in some? circuits. This is for the
"2nd detector/limiter" functions. I don't have another 6C8G handy, but do
have some 6F8G's. Of course, right next to that socked for the 6C8G is a
6F8C, so I suppose if it was good enough they would have used another one of
the same.

Can anyone tell me if this has a shot at working temporarily - while I do a
smoke and sizzle test, followed by a signs of life test?

Barry
