[R-390] Radio Mart Does It Again!

Sounds more to me like someone might have invested in a Mish restoration and 
sold/shipped a spare surplus receiver to Martyn in the Mish "Fastpack". 
Martyn is jumping to great conclusions with the smallest of evidence.  (read 
none)  You can look at the radio and tell it's a cleaned up surplus R-390A. 
Looks to me like an engraved front panel which Mish doesn't do.  He fills 
his and silk-screens them as I understand it.  Meters are look-a-likes but 
not original.  Not sure they will even work properly....both have weird 
scale markings and are marked the same it looks like to me.  Almost looks 
like someone has spliced the coax cabling going to the IF deck.  They are 
yellow on one side of the electrical tape and appear to be white on the 
other side....Strange.

I'm guessing he makes more profit from the sale of R-390A's than any other 
single item he sells.  I'll bet he picks them up real cheap from 
unsuspecting widows due to their weight and age, (the radio's) knowing there 
is a great market for them at the moment. He puts a spit shine on the panel 
and washes down the inside a bit and puts them on the auction block....then 
runs all the way to the bank!

This might have been a mint radio at one time in its distant history,
but not nearly that now.  Even with the poor images, I see some
scratches in the panel finish that seem to go underneath the name tag.
 And the cosmetics inside are atrocious.  No one restoring an R-390A
receiver would let this pass.  I do not believe Rick Mish has touched
this receiver in the past 10 years, if ever.
