Cecil,

Another useful tool is a carbide-tipped scribe, the type used in sheet-metal
and machine-shops to layout patterns, etc.  You can apply a lot more
pressure with one of those without breaking it and I seem to have a bit
better control keeping the tip in the engraving.  A dental pick tends to
"sproing" out of the engraving and scratch the front panel pretty easily.
