[R-390] Variacs and solas: additional thoughts

Nice thread.  It's great to read the tug-of-war on various issues; there 
ain't nothing that you can't find guys on opposite ends of the rope...   A 
guy learns not to take the word of the first "expert" he reads, 'cause the 
next fellow may have a different take... which is why I like this list!

I want to drop my household voltage down to 115 to run the R390A 
continuously.  Where can I get a good bucking transformer?  Any circuit 
suggestions?
