K4HCA at alltel.net (Harold Hairston) asked One final question for now. Briefly,
what is the Y2K Manual?

Back as part of the Y2K hoopla some very dedicated Fellows here on the R390
reflector put an electronic copy of the R390 maintenance manual together. These
guys spent a lot of time pounding keyboard and scanning old manual art to
produce a good current usable manual. As it was done around 1999 it was dubbed
the Y2K manual.

Help, where is the manual located on line these days? Harold needs a copy.

Budget wise, I was initially thinking that I could end-up with a good R390A
for around $600.00. I was hoping that this would be a near perfect unit
electronically but may not look perfect. If I stick with my plan to acquire an
R-390A and it had to be perfect (Meet original specs) I may have to spend more
because I don't have the equipment to align it to specs. I would like to avoid
shipping but haven't completely ruled out that possibility.

Harold that should be do able.

Do not panic if you do not have a signal generator. You can in fact do a
pretty good alignment job using the antenna and received signals. You cannot do a
signal to noise test as you can turn the received signals modulation off and
on. But you can get the receiver running and fairly well aligned.

Put a serious request on the reflector to make the offer and provide your
home town location. You may find a good receiver local to you.
