Tim,

The anodizing comes in two versions, what is commonly known as Clear and Gold colored. 
>From what I understand they are equivalents as far as protection is concerned. It would be 
highly unlikely if the side panels were not treated. Google anodizing and I am sure you 
will find all the facts about the anodizing corrosion treatment.
