[R-390] New Advance in Modern Technology

I wonder if they have an expensive radio because of the improvements, or the 
improvements to get to an expensive radio.   Reminds me of the latest super 
cars for $250K and up.   More an exercise in conspicuous consumption than 
necessary performance.   
I can understand the R-390, where shipboard installations in particular 
required a radio with superb strong signal performance.   Except for a few 
DXpeditions, I doubt that most hams would see any difference.
