First off, I can handle the bickering. I've read all this with interest and
will make up my own mind based on logic, and my own experience what caps go
bad and which need to be replaced. Personally, I have had a lot of problems
with black beauties and other paper caps of that time period. I have
choosen to replace them whenever I see them. This is a great list and I
can appreciate all viewpoints. I consider myself somewhat of an expert as I
stayed at a Holiday Inn Express recently. Also I am working on my GED!

Sure wish you guys could shake hands and make up and lighten up a little.
Sometimes things get out of hand because the written word is so powerful and
you can not see any expression from someone's writting. Over the years, I
have said some dumb things I have regretted saying on a few reflectors. So,
I don't expect others to be perfect either. Anyone who likes and restores
R-390As in my book is a good guy. You guys have more in common then
differences. Restoring a Blue Stripe rig is commendable. Maybe it
sometimes is not logical or cost efficient but it is challenging and I am
sure the restorer gets a big thrill out of taking a trashed radio and make
it perform well and look beautiful again. My hats are off to you. Dallas
has written some good stuff over the years too. We need all you guys. I am
not an expert on R-390As but love them. I have restored many old boat
anchors over the years but not R-390As. I now own 4 of them. I need to
get started restoring them soon. (I'm 67 and time is running out)!

Just remember, there are more ways then one to skin a cat!
