There has been a report that the transmissions ceased at about the time a
small group of avid HF listeners were near the front gate of the above
mentioned site. It appeared to them that the unauthorized transmissions
were being made by an employee at the site and that some official attention
to the events caused him to quit.

at which you can find a fairly authoritative history of the transmissions.
By the way, the transmission of the sound clip from a cartoon provided the
name for these transmissions: "Yosemite Sam is an animated cartoon
character in the Warner Brothers Looney Tunes series of cartoons. "
