It's entirely possible that the spring is weak, but it could also be that the
pivot is gummed up with dried lubricant...if the 'bend' of the wafers in the
corrector stack is steep, it can cause the pinch rollers to 'open' and stay
that way until some other contact cause it to close back up again and continue
normally....whatever you do, don't change any of the corrector stack
