Rich Mish (Miltronics) will sell you a shipping container for an
R-390. He used one to ship the R-390 he sold me, and that machine got
here in flawlessly-perfect condition. I seem to recall a price of
about $50, but I could be wrong. You'll still want to use cardboard 
tubes around the knobs on the front panel and the RF connectors on
the back. Mine was shipped with all the tubes and shields in place.
