[R-390] Black Faced 390A on Ebay - R-390a Trivia

SOUNDS LIKE "RED OCTOBER" TO ME! Maybe we gave the SOVIETS some as part of
our dear to get our U-2 Pilot back.  Check to see if there is the famous
'HAMMER & SICKLE' symbol stamped anywhere on this receiver, or if the
printing looks funny and you can't read it.  Of course, if you're fluent in
the language, you'll be able to answer these questions.  I've never had one
or seen one, other that from someone's web page.

I've got one of those curiosity questions.  There is a 390A on Ebay and the
seller says its a repainted panel and it made me wonder.  Is it true the
black faced radios were used on submarines and the lettering was red rather
than white??  I don't know where I heard that or read it - anyone know??
