Todd,
I don't know about the size of the S-38B and S-40. The 38B knob is plain
bakelite, or plastic. No decorative center disk or trim ring. The only
thing that I do know is that the small knobs match the 5R10A, and I can
swap small ones for one large knob. This S-38B was given to me from the
family of the original owner and is in excellent condition. It seems a
shame to not finish up the radio completely. I'm kind of surprised at
how well it receives.
