Perhaps. That was vintage Nolan Lee, from August 2001.

Nolan was (might have been) a cop. He had a high native
intelligence, but nobody had helped him to discipline it.
So his stories were laced with the seamy side of life as
only a cop sees it. At least, that's the way it seemed -
because on the Internet, nobody knows what you are. The
person known as Nolan might have invented the persona,
but it sure seemed real.

At first I was put off by this seamy stuff in a group
dedicated to a kind of radio. But after a while, I couldn't
wait to see what he'd come up with next. You see, I am
curious about the extent of differences there are between
people, even as we talk about our Fellow Man. I now think
that anybody who talks about their Fellow Man has lived in
isolation from all of the other people on this planet, and
thinks that all others are just like himself. Or is a
politician who could not care less about the fate of his
Fellow Man except that they vote for him. But I digress.

Nolan knew the R-390 class set very well, and shared his
knowledge with the group. But tolerance has a wide range
also, and the people who lean toward the in-side made him
not welcome on this list. And so we go on discussing things
that we have discussed before (grounding, anyone?) without
ever being put in perspective.

Thanks, Joe.
