[R-390] BFO Question

Phil,
Sorry to you and all, I should have mentioned it but I thought of this as
well and removed the knob and tried the whole range of the control. Two or
three times the bfo came to life but any shaft movement would kill it
again. That is why I purchased the new bfo.
Thanks,

John,
Did you loosen the BFO knob on the shaft and
try to bring it within range? There is a physical
stop on the front panel that keeps the knob from
rotating more than half way in either direction.....
but the bfo inductor is a multiturn job.
I've had this happen on a recently acquired R-390A.
The bfo would barely come within range but I just
loosened the knob, pulled it back from the stop,
zeroed the bfo, then reset the knob.
good luck,
Phil
