Well, it is the Signal Corps version of the Hammarlund JX-1, there was also a 
R-274B and a R274C. The R-274 (no suffix) was the Hallicrafters SX-73, oh 
yeah, there was also a R-274D, that was the last version of the Hallicrafters 
SX-73 (military version)
