[R-390] Anodizing knobs on R-390?

Good day all:

Can the zinc alloy used for the R-390 knobs be anodized? It would be nice to 
have a more durable finish than paint.

The other question has to do with repairs to the ears inside the main tuning 
knobs. We all have seen knobs with the ears broken off. Someone on the list 
used to do a repair, which I believe involved sleeving the knob to replace 
the ears. I can't find my old emails on the subject. Does anyone remember the 
details, or have a lead on the subject?
