[R-390] Radioactive meters

It seems to me that such a small piece could more
safely be operated on inside a glove box-type
arrangement. Put negative pressure on it with an old
"disposable" vacuum cleaner, maybe place that outside
the shop and run the hose through the window so that
anything that gets through the filter is tossed
outside.
