Back in the dark ages (about 1958), I got a shoebox of commercially
made decals from one of the local hams. As well as the sets of words
for receivers - Bandswitch - Bandwidth - RF Gain - etc, there were
several sets of decals of meter faces. various sizes, black on
white, white on black, 0 to 3, 0 to 5, 0 to 10 markings, etc.
I guess there used to be lots of meter reuse.
