Hi, I used Marvel Mystery oil to degunk my 390a gears when I first got it -
worked great and loosened things up very well - I then oiled it with synthetic oil
and I've been happy with the result - about 2 years into it now and still works
ok. I may repeat the process in a year or two. I like the MM oil for cleaning - I
used to like kerosene to clean away grime on gears, parts, bicycle chains etc,
but I think it stinks a bit more. I would guess you could gum up something pretty
good by putting on an inadequate amount of MM oil and letting it set - not enough
to flush out the old residues that might be there - but I'm just guessing on that.
Does anyone know what MM oil is? maybe a mixture of kersone and oil ? Dan.
