I got you beat Richard.  Shortly after I was born, they discovered I had an
enlarged thyroid.  Treatment:  A radium amulet -- probably a side line of
the meter dial factory.  Highly effective -- the thyroid shrunk down to
size.

However, they later learned that enlarged thyroid glands were common in
infants and simply fixed themselves 99% of the time.  Miracles of modern
medical science.
