[R-390] Front Tags Revisited

Hey gang, all this tag talk got my curiosity up.  On my Dittmore-Freimuth
R-390A/URR, the front tag has an tool stamped "A" in a different font after
the serial number.  Any idea what that represented?   It did have the diode
load pin-jack in front, but none of the rear panel or antenna relay changes
associated with Navy shipboard.
