I seem to recall at the ADC squadron of F-105s, all weathere interceptors,
at Kincheloe, AFB they were called the Delta Dart.

Been a long time ago, so I may be thinking of something else!

Also, my introduction to the F104 was at Keesler, AFB. Saw one on the runway
for takeoff. When he got off the concrete, the pilot dropped the tail and
went straight up, breaking the sound barrier and then out of sight. Pretty
impressive to an 18 year old kid.
