I have seen several recommendations for silver solder on joints in the
"signal path" in the RF deck. I have not applied it, and my signal is fine,
but it could improve if I take the time to do it.
On grounding points...
Many faults disguise themselves as component failure when they are in
reality a component that has lost it's ground. Reestablishing the ground
will cure the majority of suspicious components, in my experience.
Also, take the time to re solder joints that look suspicious. Grounding
points and deterioriated solder joints are the cause of almost all faults in
this radio, in my experience.
