Let's see..."ControlPanel->Add/Remove Programs"<click>. Nope, that didn't quite get rid of it. Files are still in the program's directory. Clean out the registry. Reboot. Load new program. Interrupt conflict. Memory address errors. Try again...
50 years later and not much has changed. The soldering iron now has a QWERTY interface.

Memory was hardwired. You got out the soldering irons when you needed to change programs.
The first Atari had 16k of chip memory and used the first VLSI chip made for
home computers. It ran at 1.77 mHz.
