Todd,

Your friends sound like they need to know more about computers. The first
computers were tube monsters. Hundreds of tubes! Memory was hardwired. You
got out the soldering irons when you needed to change programs.

The first Atari had 16k of chip memory and used the first VLSI chip made for
home computers. It ran at 1.77 mHz.
