Last year I hauled home, saved from the dump, QST from 1934 'til the '70s.
There are ads for the 51S1 that seem to be aimed at commercial HF users. I
think the RX was for that market but got jumped on by the military in the
Vietnam era when the Military was going to SSB.

The 51S1 makes a neat chairside listening radio, which is how I use mine.
