You mean the "Sideband Adapter".
The CE "Sideband Slicer" is indeed a receiving adapter.
It operates on the phasing principle with an IF input frequency of about
455 k. The phasing network must be present for it to work.. if that is
missing you can duplicate it but it takes components of moderate precision
(1%). Other than that, the circuitry is not complicated or hard to
understand. The accessory input preamplifier is not normally needed,
especially with the R-390 that has plenty of voltage at the IF output.
I can't tell you how well it works because the one I have here it not
working right. 'Dont' know why yet.
