[R-390] Black Beauties now "Rare" "Vintage" @LOOK@

Fellows,

We look like a schizophrenic lot.

We would stuff a modern orange drop into an IF deck to save a mechanical
filter
with out a second thought. Then whine all day about sand state diodes in a
a 26Z5 socket to save the B+ circuits.

Not in my wildest fantasy would I stuff one of those black beauties
into my R390/A or any ones else's R390/A.

But I have  several broadcast receivers of collector
value. There look of part is more important to my
buyer than the functionality of the part. These radios are
for looks. and look is more important than function.
I am always looking for the old dot and band resistors
and paper wax caps for receiver restoration.

The black beauties are coming into there own era.
as 50  & 60 tube sets are starting to get respect.
Invest now while you can still get them cheep.
These things have a place in the world.
The place is not in our class.

Then again I have not found a keeper that
was built with black beauties so YMMV
