Agreed 100%!!! I got real caught up in the high end stereo equipment thing
back in the late 70's early 80's. Lived in Milwaukee WI at the time. There
where shops in the 4 major malls along with a half dozen others in other
places. Lots of great equipment to choose from, good competition between
shops. Owned a bunch of Dynaco, Pioneer, Klipisch and Yamaha equipment,
didn't have the bucks for the high end stuff like S.A.E & Macintosh. Have
one of the first Pioneer 3-motor 3-head blue fluorescent display, all servo
control decks that came in the US (1978, CT-900). Ordered it through a shop
before they had a demo, darn thing arrived with Flying Tiger Airlines
stickers on the box , it was one the first to arrive here. I still run allot
of the stuff.. Have a Yamaha Natural sound 100 watt integrated amp with
their top of the line tuner , turntable & bottom of the Klipsch speakers,
damn system cost $2,300 in 1982. Ouch- has to be $6,000 in 2002 dollars,
but at the time it was fun! Also still have a 300 watt Dynaco, still an
incredible piece.Won't go into the other stuff, was a great time , but
marketing has really changed things to consumer grade or "audiophoole"
grade now. 73's Jon
