Nick,

Here is what I posted:

I just bought a dog eared R-1051B Here is the info
Contract# BSR-93204
Ser# 1110
MFR 06845
Field Changes 1,2,4 & 8

I have a few questions about this boatanchor:

I understand the RF Amplifier is motor driven. If the frequency is changed
when not hooked up to power. What happens when power is supplied? Does it
motor to the set frequency? If not, how does one re-align it?

I don't have a manual for the R-1051B/URR the manual I have is for the
R-1051/URR. Is there a place I can download the operation & service manuals
for the R-1051B?

The manual I have says both IF audio Amplifiers (A2A2 USB & A2A3 LSB) are
identical and interchangeable. Physically this seems to be the case. I
noticed on my R-1051B the jacks these modules plug into are slightly
different. A2A2 plugs into J18. A2A3 plugs into J19. J19 is the same as J18
except it has an open hole on the rear end where J18 has a coaxial contact.
It looks like that is correct from the pictures in the manual, I would just
like to verify it.

I'm sure I will have more questions as I get further into it.

Jim

However,

I have found answers to most of these questions. I now have a manual for
the R-1051B/URR from Andy Moorer.
The odd thing about mine is it does not have the original six-pack in it.
It was replaced with one from a H model. I also have an H manual from the
same source, so I think I'm covered manual wise.

It came with all the modules removed and shipped separately to keep the
shipping weight below 75#. First I just plugged them back in and fired it
up. Nothing much happened. I then took the modules out and made sure the
couplers were aligned. I got more of a live hash noise sound out. I
switched the Mhz from 7 to 8, I heard the turret turn. Then from 8 to 9.
the turret turned again. When I switch from 9 to 10Mhz the turret started
to turn but stopped. Now nothing happens no mater where I turn the Mhz
settings.

Also, I tested the tubes and My 6AN5WA is shorted. I ordered 3 off ebay and
await their arrival.

Jim
