Indeed the r1051 groups alive.
Yes the translator synth was called the 6 pac. It is a royal pain in the
butt to work on. But you can remove the can tops and sort of get around.
The other thing I have done is provide external power and signals and such
to emulate the radio. (That does require a fair test bench with sig gens)
That said I have consistently found the xtals off frequency or need a
trimming even had to add a small cap to one.
Now to be very honest. Its not like the 6 pac goes bad all of the time the
beasty is actually pretty stable. I also have a the transciever version of
the 1051. That puts out a killer 250 mw! Yahooo. I don't really use it very
much.
