Then for what ever reason the knob is not falling into the detent. The chain
can be tightened. But that would have to be very loose. Very difficult to
believe. Though if someone adjusted it.
Check that the six pack is correctly seated. If it was jammed in the
coupling may not have actually correctly linked. This would explain what you
are seeing.
