Apologies; I thought it was a "G".

It is time for you to pull the RX forward out of its case and tilt the
face up 90 degrees so that you can watch things (fail to) move. If you
turn the knob and the chain doesn't move, then it is time to adjust the
idler and/or inspect the chain for flaws. In the image of the "B" at
<http://mikea.ath.cx/R-1051/R-1051B-under-complete.jpg>, you can see
three idler gears on rotating quadrants. There's no real difficulty in
taking the slack up in a chain: just loosen the locknut on the idler,
and pull it tight enough that the chain you're working on has the same
"play" in it as one that doesn't slip. Too tight is hard on bearings and
on the chain itself, so erring on the side of looseness isn't bad.

Getting it back in tune is relatively easy: set the knobs up for a given
freq, set a siggen to that freq and inject it into the RX, loosen the idler
and turn the correct gear on the underside of the RX until the siggen
comes in. Once you've got everything set right, cinch down that idler.

Let us know how this comes out.
