[R-1051] 1 @ 10 KC synthesizer module

I have been working on a problem in my R-1051b for several days. I am
getting an intermittent condition after about an hour warm-up where the
incoming signal gets weak, and is masked over by a lot of noise ( like ocean
waves). I did a lot of module substitution in the 6-pack. I have narrowed
the problem down to the one/ten KC module at the far rear of the 6-pack. I
removed the module cover. Tapping and gentle pushing with a small wooden
dowell rod has further narrowed the problem down to Z3 and/or Fl1 on the top
board. The underside of the board looks good under careful scrutinizing with
a magnifying glass. Looks like I will have to unsolder and open Z3 and Fl1.
Z3 is a sealed unit containing one transistor and a few resistors and
capacitors. FL1 is a sealed unit and appears to be a crystal lattice filter.
Has anyone ever attempted this type of repair? Are Z3 and FL1 repairable?

Any tips will be appreciated.
