Lee et al;

I have a GRC-106 (non A) which is called RT-662; it looks almost
identical to the RT-834, but I believe there are some differences
functionally and internally (the modules). Besides being really ugly,
the RT-662 appears about as sensitive as the 1051B I have. They both
are dead on frequency wise, so if you know the freq, just dial it up.

The 662 has had one power supply module failure, so far. Easiest fix is
a checked one from Fair Radio. Although I have attempted to repair the
PS module, I have not been sussessful - not enough time nor experience.

The 662 and 834 (I guess) are generally cheaper to acquire, finding
someone to repair one is difficult to impossible. Cecil Acuff is a
terriffic 1051 guy to deal with and does restore the 1051s.

One thing I have noticed on the 662 is that when turned on, the
frequency is off slightly and it takes a few minutes to warm up, then is
stable and dead on. I have seen this with two 662s. The 1051 doesn't
do this.

That's my $0.02 worth!
Jim
