[R-1051] R-1051 Help

Hi Lloyd,

It sounds like the motor that drives the crystal switch in the MHZ
synthesizer has stalled. When you change frequency with either the 10 MHZ
knob or the 1 MHZ knob there should be two motors you hear run. One is
quite obvious the other you have to listen for. The one in the RF amp
module is the obvious one. You will notice when you move the 1 MHZ knob in
one direction the RF amp motor runs for a long time (2 sec.) and when you
move it the other it just steps a small amound. (1/4 of a sec.) When you go
in the direction that the RF amp just steps you will usually have an
opportunity to listen for the MHZ osc switch motor. It is not near as loud.
If you never hear it...it is probably not running. If the MHZ osc is not
changing frequency it will only allow the radio to tune properly on one MHZ
segment .

That is the most likley cause...The motor usually requires disassembly,
cleaning and lube. Not an easy job though....very hard to get too!

Hope that helps....
