matt,
have you looked at the power supply rails with a scope to look for
weirdness there?? other than that pop-pop through the speaker, is normally
an audio amp problem, have seen this caused by a lost ground for audio
circuit, I am not up to speed on this unit enough to really point you in a
good direction, but I would be looking at grounds!!
