Derek, I've seen that guy....HI...I also love the US guys that put the stamp
in a place where the post mark is likely NOT to hit.....I wonder if they
file their 1040's that way...especially if they're expecting to buy that new
rig with the refund!
Also, I think as someone noted there is confusion between E-QSL (which I
absolutely IGNORE) and email bureau qsl request, which I actually
encourage...saves me the time and money of getting their card. However,
what I do find is most folks email and then QSL via bureau.
I think E-QSLs when the League gets the new stuff running will replace many
of the QSL cards requested by contest stations, which will be a relief...but
I suspect dxpeditions will continue to print them for the purpose, if
nothing else, of providing an opportunity to support the operation with a
donation with the QSL request.
Sadly, many folks spend thousands on their station, and don't support the
dxpeditons. I'm not talking about my next trip to the Caribbean, but the
more rare places that are hard to get to and require a ton of logistic
planning. I fear someday we'll all have expensive, state of the art
stations, and have to wait for the new ones that never show up.
So...my guess our job won't go away,b ut be a lot more focused on doing the
appropriate QSL work, rather than what today may be a bigger task. THe
ability to confirm a band/mode from a contest station via the electronic QSL
procedure from the ARRL shoudl help in the load!
