Hi from OE !

I'v imported the first Isotrons to OE in 1989 (there are articles in our
OE-ham-journal QSP, copies at http://www.bibliothek-traun.at/qsp/1089.jpg
and at http://members.eunet.at/hagenbu/hobby.htm ) and I'm still using the
80 and 20m version for receiving (I'm working as SWL).
Some friends (OE8PJ, DF8UL...) tested transmitting with both ones and the
result is: the isotrons have to to as high as possible and one should have
the best grounding that is possible. Too close to ground and poor grounding
you habe a dummy-load, but 5 to 6 m up the ground, grounded with a wire
diameter 0,5 to 0,8 cm, connected with water-pipes or similar, then it will
work with -3 to -6 db compared to a half-wave dipol.
So i fear that indoor you can hardly get good conditions for this type of
ant and you better use magnetic loops indoor.
OE5UY has constructed many "Isotrons" , here are some of his QSOs with 100
W output (1,4 A are going through the connection to ground!) on 20m - 105
QSOs and he got 29x S9, 7x S8, 10x S6, 15x S5, 9x S4, 3x S3 and 1x S1.

So, I hope this may help you in any way to get the best ant for you!
